The team is the result of voting by the league's faculty athletic representatives. A tie in the voting resulted in six members named to the team, rather than five.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award. Outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments from the current season only are considered.
The honor is the second academic award for Wenzel in the last month. In late February, she was one of just three MAC student-athletes named to the Verizon Academic All-District IV Team, earning second-team honors.
On the court, Wenzel averaged 10.1 points and 4.2 rebounds this season, ranking third on the Falcons in scoring and second in rebounding. Wenzel, who played in all 28 games and made 24 starts, shot .356 from three-point land, making 37 treys on the year.
The Falcons ended the 2002-03 season with records of 12-16 overall and 5-11 in MAC play.
Joining Wenzel on the Academic All-MAC Team were Ball State's Kate Endress, Buffalo's Kate McMeeken-Ruscoe, Kent State's Christi Shibata, Miami's Heather Cusick and Toledo's Kelly Walker.
