The pairings for the 2003 First Energy Mid-American Conference Tournament were finalized Saturday as Kent State captured the No. 2 seed with its 73-60 win over Ohio. Meanwhile, Northern Illinois' 71-67 overtime loss to Western Michigan handed Miami the No. 3 seed and dropped the Huskies to the No. 4 slot. The Broncos clinched the No. 5 seed with its win.
Marshall had its back to the wall as a loss by the Thundering Herd in its game with Miami would have dropped the Thundering Herd to a No. 11 seed. Marshall, however, fought back for a 58-51 win against Miami to secure the No. 7 seed for the Thundering Herd.
