Falcons Place Third At All-Ohio Championships

Columbus, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team placed third at the All-Ohio Championships with a score of 193.475. Host, Ohio State scored 196.650 to capture first place while Kent State finished second with a team total of 195.450.
Senior Kathy Emerson, who finished first last week on the beam with a score of 9.900, placed in a tie for first this week on the beam with a score of 9.875. Emerson now owns the top two scores on the beam for the Falcons this season. Jessica Guyer posted a 9.800 on the beam, establishing a new personal-best for herself.
On the floor exercise junior Melissa Popovich and freshman Jessica Guyer led the Falcons. They both posted a 9.850 on the floor, finishing fourth in the event. Pia Sjoval finished seventh with a 9.800.
The top Falcon finishers on the vault were Guyer and senior Ann Marie Kassouf. Both posting scores of 9.725, finishing eighth in the event. Kassouf was also the top Falcon in the all-around, with a combined score of 38.900. She finished fourth in the event.
Kari Elste continued her hot performances on the uneven bars with a score of 9.800, finishing eighth in the event. Last week Elste captured first place for the Falcons with a mark of 9.850 on the bars.
Up next the Falcons travel to Mt. Pleasant, MI where they will face off against Central Michigan on Sunday, March 16. The meet is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
