Falcon Hockey Holds Annual Banquet

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University hockey team held its annual banquet in the Lenhart Grand Ballroom at the Bowen-Thompson Student Union on Saturday, April 19. Several players earned multiple honors and attendees were introduced to next season's captains.
For the second time in three years there were co-winners of the Jim Sears Award for Most Valuable Player. Junior forward D'Arcy McConvey and sophomore netminder Jordan Sigalet shared the top honors for their team-leading performances. McConvey's 29 points were tops on the team in scoring, while Sigalet's 3.28 goals against average and .910 save percentage led Falcon goaltenders.
Junior defenseman Kevin Bieksa was the first recipient of the W. G. Grinders "Grinder Award". The Grinder Award was decided by Falcon fans who voted at W. G. Grinders restaurant or at home hockey games. Bieksa also won the Jim Ruehl Award for Best Defensive Player, which he shared with Sigalet.
For the second consecutive year, sophomore forward Steve Brudzewski took home the Bill & Helen Lloyd Award for Most Improved Player. Brudzewski bested his previous totals in all scoring categories with 12 goals and 11 assists for 23 points. He netted four goals on the power play and two while the team was short handed.
Head Coach Scott Paluch also recognized the 2003-04 captains to the audience, which will include captain D'Arcy McConvey, along with assistant captains Kevin Bieksa and Alex Rogosheske.
