BGSU Hockey Names 2003-04 Captains

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University hockey coach Scott Paluch announced today his captains for the 2003-04 season. Two return as captains from last year while there is a new addition to the trio.
Senior forward D'Arcy McConvey will return as the team's captain while senior defenseman Kevin Bieksa will again serve as one of the assistant captains. Junior forward Alex Rogosheske will be the team's other assistant captain.
McConvey led the Falcons in scoring during the 2002-03 season with 6-23--29 in 36 games, setting a new career-high for assists and tying a career-high for points. McConvey was named to the Dodge Holiday Classic All-Tournament team at the University of Minnesota on Dec. 28 after recording a goal and three assists in two games. The centerman was also named to the CCHA All-Academic First Team with a 3.91 GPA in financial economics through the 2002 fall semester. He is a native of Richmond Hill, Ontario.
Bieksa finished third on the team in scoring and tops among all defenseman with 8-17--25 in 34 games played. He finished tied for fifth among blueliners in scoring in the CCHA and 26th nationally. Bieksa's numbers were all career-highs. He scored the lone goal in a 1-1 tie vs. #6 Michigan on Nov. 9 and had three assists in a 4-3 win over Findlay on Oct. 25. Bieksa was named CCHA All-Academic Honorable Mention with a 3.42 GPA in finance through the 2002 fall semester. He is a native of Grimsby, Ontario.
Rogosheske completed his first season at Bowling Green this past year, finishing with 4-5--9 in 36 games played. The Mahtomedi, Minn. native played the 2000-01 season at the U.S. Military Academy and spent the spring of 2002 with the Topeka Scarecrows of the USHL, before coming to BGSU. The forward scored two goals at Nebraska-Omaha on Jan. 31 and tallied his first Falcon point with an assist on Nov. 8 vs. #6 Michigan.
BGSU loses just two seniors to graduation from last year's squad, which finished 8-25-3 overall and 5-20-3 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (11th place).
