Falcons Have Several Top Finishes At Butler Twilight

Indianapolis, Indiana - The BGSU track team completed their final outdoor meet of the regular season at Indianapolis, Indiana, hosted by Butler University Saturday night. Juniors Kerri McClung and Alicia Taylor had first place finishes to lead the Falcons.
Though no team scores were kept, the Falcons had several top finishes throughout the meet. Leading the way for the Brown and Orange was Kerri McClung. Not only did she place first in the shot put with a mark of 13.52 meters, she also placed eighth in the discus throw (39.90 meters) and fifth in the hammer throw (48.01 meters). The mark in the discus was the top Falcon mark for the season.
Seniors Mary Willems and Chassity Gulley were the other top Falcon finishers in the throws. Willems placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 53.86 meters, her top mark of the outdoor season. Gulley placed third in the shot put with a season-best mark of 13.07 meters.
In the sprints and relays the Falcons had two first-place finishes. Alicia Taylor placed first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.23 seconds. Senior Amy Henry placed third in the same event with a time of 14.50 seconds. Amber Walker was the top Falcon finisher in the 200-meter dash, placing fifth with a time of 25.17 seconds, her best time of the outdoor season.
The Falcons placed first in the 4 x 400 with a season-best time of 3:49.48, a time they improved by over four seconds when they posted a first place finish at the McDonald's Invitational back on April 5 with a time of 3:53.63. They also placed third in the 4 x 100 with a time of 47.03 seconds.
In the 800-meters the Falcons were led by Marquita McGowan who placed 11th with a time of 2:18.04 and Christy Paine who placed 12th with a time of 2:18.23.
Senior Nicole Carter was the top Falcon jumper who placed seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 10.99 meters. She also placed 13th in the long jump (5.25 meters).
Up next for the Falcons is a trip to Central Michigan to compete in the 2003 MAC Outdoor Championships on May 15.
