Former Falcon Drew Niles Appears in Southern League All-Star Game

Former Bowling Green State University baseball player Drew Niles played in his first professional All-Star game on July 8, 2003, in Jacksonville, Fla. Niles played in the Southern League All-Star game, representing the Carolina Mudcats. The Irmo, S.C. native scored the only run in the final five innings to help the East secure a 7-5 win.
Niles was 2-for-5 with two runs scored in the game, appearing as designated hitter and at third base. He is batting .302 in 74 games, as of July 15, with 14 doubles, one triple, three home runs, 29 RBI and 48 runs scored with the Mudcats.
Niles finished his student-athlete career at BGSU in the spring of 1998, when the Falcons advanced to the NCAA Regional. He was selected in the 29th round of the June 1998 free agent draft by Florida.
In three seasons as a Falcon, Niles played in 132 games. He ended his collegiate career with 103 hits in 368 at-bats (.280 avg.) with 89 runs scored.
