CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference office has authorized the release of the MAC Academic Honor Roll for the 2002-03 academic year, and a whopping 12 members of the Bowling Green State University women's soccer team were among those honored. The BGSU athletic department had a total of 122 student-athletes selected.
To be eligible, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. True freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible, as a student-athlete must have attended the institution for an entire year to qualify for the award.
For the women's soccer Falcons, the 12 honorees include seniors Jill Conover, Erika Flanders, Tracy Gleixner and Susan Wallace, juniors Kasey Freeman and Carrie Richards, and sophomores Jenny Berlovan, Kylene Newell, Katie Piening, Nikki Pucillo, Beth Rieman and Ali Shingler. (Note: each player's year of eligibility reflects the 2002-03 academic year).
BGSU's list of honorees follow. The cumulative GPA figures for each student-athlete are through the fall, 2002, semester, as the nominations were made before the conclusion of the spring, 2003, semester.
