Women's Basketball Falcons Named To MAC Academic Honor Roll

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference office has authorized the release of the MAC Academic Honor Roll for the 2002-03 academic year, and four members of the Bowling Green State University women's basketball team were among those honored. The BGSU athletic department had a total of 122 student-athletes selected.
To be eligible, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. True freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible, as a student-athlete must have attended the institution for an entire year to qualify for the award.
For the women's basketball Falcons, the four honorees include seniors Kim Griech and Megan Jerome and juniors Lindsay Austin and Stefanie Wenzel. (Note: each player's year of eligibility reflects the 2002-03 academic year).
All four of the aforementioned players have been named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll in each year they have been eligible. Griech and Jerome each earn the honor for the third consecutive year, while both Austin and Wenzel have been recognized for the second year in a row.
The 2002-03 Falcons of head coach Curt Miller finished the season with an overall record of 12-16, representing the team's most wins since the 1998-99 season. Griech and Jerome comprise half of the Falcons' four-woman senior class from that squad, while Austin and Wenzel, the lone seniors on the 2003-04 team, headline a group of six returning letterwinners from a year ago. Austin and Wenzel are the lone returning starters from last winter.
BGSU's list of honorees follows. The cumulative GPA figures for each student-athlete are through the fall, 2002, semester, as the nominations were made before the conclusion of the spring, 2003, semester.
