CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference office has authorized the release of the MAC Academic Honor Roll for the 2002-03 academic year, and six members of the Bowling Green State University baseball team were among those honored. The BGSU athletic department had a total of 122 student-athletes selected.
To be eligible, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. True freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible, as a student-athlete must have attended the institution for an entire year to qualify for the award.
For the baseball Falcons, the six honorees include junior Spencer Schmitz and sophomores Burke Badenhop, Matt Hundley, Kevin Longstreth, Jayson Selgo and Jeff Warnock. (Note: each player's year of eligibility reflects the 2002-03 academic year).
The Falcons finished the 2003 season with an overall record of 17-28, and BGSU had a MAC mark of 9-18.
BGSU's list of honorees follows. The cumulative GPA figures for each student-athlete are through the fall, 2002, semester, as the nominations were made before the conclusion of the spring, 2003, semester.
