Spikers Travel To Columbus For Saturday Showdown With Buckeyes

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University volleyball squad travels to Columbus, Ohio, to face the Buckeyes on Saturday, September 20, at St. John's Arena. The Falcons (8-3) are looking for their fourth straight victory, as well as match last year's victory total of nine.
The Brown & Orange are coming off a five set win over Valparaiso University Wednesday night with the help of the triple offensive threats of seniors Susie Norris and Samantha Rennau and junior Taylor Twite. All three players are averaging over three kills per game, Norris (3.09), Rennau (3.30) and Twite (3.68).
Defensively junior Melissa Mohr and freshman Chrissy Gothke have led the way. Mohr leads the team with 43 total blocks and 1.20 blocks per game. Gothke leads the team in digs with 4.07 per game, and is averaging 4.84 digs per game in her last five matches.
The Buckeyes (5-2) are coming off back-to-back wins over Rice and Miami. OSU is lead by Stacey Gordon and her 6.24 kills and 3.62 digs per game. Up front D'wan Shackleford is averaging 1.31 blocks per game and leads the team with 38 total blocks.
Following the match in Columbus, the Falcons will get a much-deserved break, after competing in six matches over the last seven days. BGSU will host IPFW on Friday, September 26 to conclude their non-conference schedule.
