YPSILANTI, Mich. -
BGSU COACH Curt Miller
"It's a frustrating loss. We did a great job on Ryan Coleman, probably the best player in the conference, and put ourselves in position to win another big game on the road to be 3-0 in the conference away from home. But, we were very tentative against their zone in the last six minutes. I felt helpless out there. We lacked an inside presence down the stretch, and could not get any good looks against their zone."
"We're such a good three-point shooting team that, when teams go (to a) zone, we usually shoot people out of it pretty quickly. But, without that inside presence, they just got more and more aggressive on the perimeter and got very spread out. In my mind, that should have led to a lot of one-on-one opportunities in the post, but we could not execute it. We good not get the ball in there, relied on a lot of perimeter (shots) and made some poor decisions against their zone."
"I thought Jill (Lause) played great off the bench, and I thought Kelly (Kapferer) brought us some stuff off the bench. But, their lone senior, Marion Crandall, hit big three after big three off the bench. We knew going in that they do a good job of penetrating and kicking the ball out to her. With the exception of her, they didn't get much bench production. But, her play as a senior in a must-win game for Eastern; that's a big gut-check, and that senior made big plays for them."
(On Ali Mann)
"She was great. She lost her grandfather on Sunday night, and I didn't even know if she would play. It just shows her character. A lot of kids might not have played in the game, but even if they did play, might not have been strong enough mentally (to give a complete performance), which is understandable. But, Ali just continues to amaze me. She had a double-double, and basically put us on her back at times tonight. It just shows what a talent she is."
