BGSU vs. Union
Bowling Green kicks off the regular season this weekend when it travels to Union for a two-game series (Oct. 22-23) in Schenectady, N.Y. The two teams will meet for the second-straight year after the Dutchmen defeated BGSU (3-1) and tied with them (1-1) last year in Bowling Green.
Union Dutchmen
Union (a member of the ECAC) dropped a pair at nationally-ranked Colorado College last weekend, both by the score of 4-2. Goalie Kris Mayotte had 39 saves in the first game and stopped 33 shots the following night.
Union Connection
Bowling Green assistant coach Kevin Patrick was an assistant at Union from 1998-2002. Patrick is currently in his third season on Scott Paluch's staff at BGSU.

BGSU 3, Windsor 2 (OT)
FR Derek Whitmore scored at 2:53 of overtime to give BGSU a 3-2 victory over Windsor on Oct. 15 in exhibition play. After two scoreless periods, the two teams combined to score four goals in the third period. BGSU goals came from JR Bryan Dobek at 5:21 (PPG) and SR Taylor Christie (5:54).The Falcons outshot the Lancers 46-13 in the game, but Lancer goalie Reese Kalleitner played well in keeping the game close. SR Jordan Sigalet had 11 saves. BGSU was 2-for-14 on the power play while UW was 2-for-7.
Nice Shootin'...
BGSU outshot Windsor on Friday in exhibition play, 46-13. The Falcons had 40-plus shots in a game just three times all of last season, going 0-2-1 in those games. The Falcons had 17 shots in the first period alone against the Lancers, then attempted 14 in each the second and third periods, and just one in overtime.
Whitmore Mr. Clutch
For the second week in a row, FR Derek Whitmore notched a game-winner in overtime. On Friday, Oct. 15, Whitmore scored a PPG at 2:53 of overtime to give BGSU a 3-2 exhibition victory over visiting Windsor. Whitmore registered an overtime goal on Oct. 9 in BGSU's intrasquad contest, giving Team Orange a 5-4 victory.
Freshmen Forecheck
The BGSU freshmen class continues to impress. All eight frosh (six forwards, two defensemen) were in the Falcon line-up against Windsor with three registering points. Defenseman Michael Hodgson assisted on Whitmore's GWG in overtime, while forward Ben Geelan had an assist on Taylor Christie's goal.
Underclassmen Are Pulling Their Weight
Sophomores Jeremy Bronson, Jonathan Sigalet and Rich Meloche tallied the other assists for the Falcons vs. Windsor. Overall, six of the nine points registered by BGSU came via underclassmen. Of the 18 forwards/defensemen that dressed against Windsor on Friday, 12 were either freshmen or sophomores.
