Cleveland, Ohio - Bowling Green State University senior Josh Almanson has been named MAC West Men's Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Falcons to wins over Illinois-Chicago and Bradley.

Josh Almanson, Bowling Green, forward

Almanson averaged 19.5 points and 5.5 rebounds as the Falcons posted back-to-back wins over Illinois-Chicago and Bradley. In the 63-51 win over UIC, he led the falcons with 17 points and five rebounds while making 7 of 8 from the field. Against Bradley, he had 22 points, six rebounds and was 5 of 5 from the free throw line.
East Division
Turner Battle, Buffalo, guard

In wins over Farleigh Dickinson and Indiana State, Battle averaged 15.5 points, 6.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds per game. In the 87-84 overtime win vs. FDU, Battle played 41 minutes, scored 17 points with nine rebounds and seven assists. Battle had an assist on the basket by Mark Bortz that sent the game into overtime as UB erased a seven-point deficit in the final 36 seconds. In a 92-84 triumph over ISU, he had 14 points, five assists and three rebounds in 24 minutes.

Also nominated - West Division
Peyton Stovall, Ball State, guard - averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds in outings vs. Kentucky and Detroit. His best came in the 59-44 win at UD with a career-high 21 points, including a career-high five three-point goals.
Tony Bowne, Central Michigan, guard/forward - led the Chippewas to a 2-0 mark by averaging 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 assists. Started at forward despite his 6-3 size. Bowne had 15 points in the 68-55 win over Valparaiso and a game-high 18 points in the 70-60 victory over Saginaw Valley State.
Paige Paulsen, Northern Illinois, forward - averaged 14.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as the Huskies lost to SMS 65-63 and beat DePaul 84-69. His best game was 19 points, shooting 8 of 14 from the field, vs. DePaul. He also had a career-high six board against the Blue Demons.
Florentino Valencia, Toledo, sophomore - led the Rockets with 17 points and shared the team lead with six rebounds in 25 minutes in UT's 74-64 loss at Wright State. Valencia shot 8 of 10 from the field.
Also nominated - West Division
Jeremiah Wood, Akron, forward - averaged 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds vs. Mt. Union and Hampton as the Zips won both games. Wood had his best game of 17 points and 13 rebounds in the 80-69 win over Hampton. Mark Patton, Marshall, center - averaged 13.5 points and 7.0 rebounds vs. East Tennessee State and Oregon. Patton scored a game-high 17 points in the loss to the Ducks following a 10-point, 9-rebound outing vs. the Bucs.
Danny Horace, Miami, forward - averaged 17.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in games vs. Xavier and Butler. Horace led the 66-54 win over Xavier with his 19 points and 10 rebounds and followed with 16 points and 10 rebounds vs. Butler.
