Mobile, Alabama - The Bowling Green State Univesity football team spent a busy second day enjoying Battleship Park where the team and traveling party had lunch before taking a tour of the USS Alabama. The team spent about 90 minutes at the facility which also included a submarine and several military aircraft.
The team practiced in full pads for about 90 minutes at a local high school in front of a crowd of about 150 fans, including Mobile resident and ESPN college football analyst Mike Gottfried.
"I think all of us were glad to start practice again," said junior wide receiver Charles Sharon.
Notes From Day 2
Earlier in the morning 10 BGSU players presented gifts to children at an area hospital. Jelani Jordan, Teddy Piepkow, Omar Jacobs, P.J. Pope, Keon Newson, Deaudre Perry, Shaun Suisham, Jovon Burkes, Mike Thaler and Monte Cooley visited the University of South Alabama Women's and Children's Hospital.
"I think the kids were glad to spend time with us and it makes you very grateful for what you have," said Jordan.
Thanks to the generosity of BGSU fans, the athletic department has provided the Mobile Big Brother's and Big Sister's program with 300 tickets for Wednesday night's game. Those tickets were purchased by fans who could not attend the game in Mobile, but who wanted to provide an area youth group with an opportunity to attend the game.
After dinner, the players were given the night off. The Falcons are enjoying their hospitality room in the hotel which features free video arcade games, ice cream, popcorn and nachos.
