Mobile, Alabama - The BGSU football team concluded its third day in Mobile by taking on Memphis, in bowling. Each team had 60 members of the traveling party bowl with the winner receiving a trophy at practice on Monday. The winner of the bowling event has gone on to win the football game in each of the last two years.
The two teams bowled two games with BGSU holding a 350 pin lead after the first game. The final score will not be announced until Monday.
The team's best bowler entering the event was believed to be junior defensive back John Nicholson. However, one piece of his luggage, which contained his personal bowling ball, has yet to turn up in Mobile.
Senior center Scott Mruczkowski bowled a 192 in the first game.
Notes
The team held a 90-minute practice at UMS-Wright prep school in shorts and uppers. The temperature at practice was in the low 40's with a stiff wind of about 20 MPH. It is expected to fall to 18 degrees tonight in Mobile with the high expected to be about 50 on Monday.
No other functions were held on Sunday, though transportation for the team was arranged for individuals to attend various church services.
The team will attend a Fellowship of Christian Athletes breakfast tommorrow at 7 a.m. where former Colorado Coach Bill McCartney will be the guest speaker. He spoke at BGSU last May.
