Bowling Green, Ohio - Lake Superior got on the board first, but Bowling Green came right back with three-straight goals to defeat the visiting Lakers, 3-2, at the BGSU Ice Arena on Friday night. Senior D'Arcy McConvey netted the Falcons' first two goals of the game to get the home team rolling.
"I thought our team committed alot of turnovers that hurt us," said BGSU Coach Scott Paluch. "But I thought we worked extremely hard and the game was defined by that last penalty kill where we kind of threw it all out there.
"Jordan (Sigalet) made saves when he had to. It was a game that we were able to will ourselves through."
Steve McJannet scored his second goal of the season for LSSU at 4:00 of the first period. Later in the period, McConvey scored his seventh goal of the season at 16:09 with assists from Jonathan Sigalet and Steve Brudzewski. Then, just 2:50 later McConvey added his second goal of the game to give BGSU a 2-1 lead. This time it was James Unger and Ryan Minnabarriet who earned helpers on the goal.
At 15:38 of the second period it was Brudzewski who got in on the scoring when he netted his team-leading 10th goal of the year on the Falcon power play, giving the Falcons a 3-1 advantage. Brian Escobedo and Don Morrison got assists.

In addition to the victory by the current Falcons, the 1984 NCAA Division I National Champions were recognized at the first intermission. BGSU is using this weekend to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Falcons defeating Minnesota-Duluth in Lake Placid, N.Y, 5-4, in quadruple overtime.
Paluch was happy to see his team get the chance this weekend to actually see and talk to some of the guys that made up the tradition they made them come to Bowling Green.
"Our guys have been really excited about this whole event," said Paluch. "When guys come to Bowling Green, they know the names, they know the tradition, and to be able to see the guys right there it's not a distraction, it's a trigger for excitement."
BGSU held LSSU 0-for-7 on the power play thanks to a penalty-kill unit that is getting back to what it was doing early in the year.
"We're back to going up-tempo for a full 200 feet," said McConvey. "We battled pretty well all week down low."
The Falcons ended with a 26-22 shot advantage, including 5-4 in the decisive third period. BGSU ended 1-for-4 on the power play. Sigalet ended with 20 saves while LSSU's Jeff Jakaitis had 23.
BGSU improves to 9-14-7 overall and 7-11-4 in the CCHA. The nine wins betters its total of eight last season and ties its total from two years ago, with six regular-season games left. The win also brings the Falcons to within one point of ninth-place Ferris State who lost to Notre Dame on Friday night.
LSSU falls to 6-16-5 overall and 4-14-3 in the league. The two teams conclude the weekend series Saturday night at the BGSU Ice Arena with a 7:05 p.m. faceoff. Members of the 1984 will be signing autographs from 6 p.m. until gametime.
