BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team begins preparations for the 2004 season with a number of competitions over the next few months. Falcon head coach Andy Richards has announced the team's spring schedule, which begins with an indoor tournament Saturday (Feb. 28).
The Falcons will head to Columbus to play in the Ohio State 7v7 indoor tournament, which will feature a number of club and college teams.
In April, BGSU will play in a pair of tournaments as well as two matches. The Falcons will open the month at the Kent State Tournament on Sat., April 3. Four days later (April 7), BGSU will host Tiffin in a 4:00 p.m. match.
The Falcons will remain at home for the BGSU Tournament on Sat., April 10. That tourney will be an all-day affair, starting at 10:00 a.m. and running until approximately 6:00 p.m. The tournament will feature a total of 20 teams -- nine college squads, including the Falcons, as well as 11 youth teams.
BGSU will close the spring slate by taking on Dayton on Wed., April 14. That match, which will be held in Piqua, Ohio, begins at 7:00 p.m.
The 2003 Falcons finished with an overall record of 8-12-3 and a Mid-American Conference mark of 5-5-2. BGSU, seeded eighth for the conference tournament, advanced all the way to the championship match for the second time in the last four seasons. Richards and assistant coach Ashlee Orr lose just two seniors off that 26-woman squad.
