Falcons Ready For MAC Indoor Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University track and field team travels to Ypsilanti, Michigan, this weekend (Feb 27-28) for the 2004 MAC Indoor Championships. The Falcons will look to continue their winning ways after capturing the All-Ohio Championship title back on Feb. 14.

Sprints & Hurdles
Alicia Taylor, Valerie Holland and Jessica White will have several opportunities to capture points for the Falcons over the weekend. Taylor owns a MAC-best 8.52 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. She will join Holland and White in the 60-meter dash, where all three of them rank in the top 10.
Middle Distance
Marquita McGowan, Lyndi Springer and Melissa Krueger are all coming off their top performance at the All-Ohio Championships two weeks ago. McGowan and Springer each ran personal-bests in the 400-meters with times of 58.25 and 59.51 respectively, while Krueger also ran a personal-best in the 800-meters with a time of 2:16.10.
Distance
Amber Culp will lead a pack of runners with an opportunity to shine at the MAC Championships. Culp owns a personal-best time of 10:21.19 in the 3,000 meters and 17:54.71 in the 5,000 meters. Kim Settle, Bridget Dalic and Andrea Pollack will also compete in the distance events.
Jumps
A duo of freshman are the top Falcons in the jumps. Erica Wilson ranks third in the long jump with a 19-02.25 and Veronica Vance ranks fifth in the MAC in the triple jump with a distance of 39-05.75. Junior Tamika Dixon will also join Wilson in the high jump.
Throws
Freshman Paris Bussey has led the Falcons in the weight throw and shot put throughout the season. She will enter the MAC Championships with a personal-best 46-03.50 in the weight throw and 42-10.75 in the shot put.
