FALCONS ARE DROPPING OFF THEIR LAUNDRY
BGSU will play its lone home game in a stretch which will see them play four of five on the road over a 14-day span, including games at Kent State (February 14) and Northern Illinois (February 18). Beginning with the ESPN Bracket Buster on February 21, the Falcons will play four straight games at home before concluding the MAC regular season at Eastern Michigan, March 6. If the MAC Tournament were to begin today, BGSU, Ohio and Buffalo would be tied for the sixth seed.
THE SERIES WITH THE BOBCATS
The Falcons hold a 62-50 advantage in a series which began during the 1942-43 season. BGSU topped Ohio, 66-60 in overtime last season in the only meeting between the two teams. In the last meeting in Bowling Green, the Falcons came away with an 80-64 triumph in 2002. BGSU has won four of the last five contests between the two teams overall and seven of eight in Anderson Arena since the 1993-94 season.
DON'T OVERLOOK Ron Lewis FOR ALL-MAC HONORS
Sophomore Ron Lewis has established himself as the premier sophomore in the MAC averaging 18.6 points per game, a five-point differential over any other second-year player in the MAC. In the last three games he is averaging 27.3 points and hit 10 of 19 three-point field goal attempts against Miami and Western Michigan. Lewis is third in the MAC in scoring, second in free throw shooting (82.7) and has made more free throws than any player in the league (139). His 742 career points scored is the second-highest total for a BGSU sophomore in school-history trailing only Anthony Stacey who scored 890 points in his first two seasons. Lewis is the seventh leading scorer in the nation for a sophomore.
NETTER AND REIMOLD ARE 1,000-POINT SCORERS
Senior Kevin Netter became the 33rd player to score 1,000 points or more in a career at BGSU and now has scored 1,006 points. He is averaging 18.0 points in his last nine games. Netter became the second current Falcon to score 1,000 points during his college basketball career. Junior John Reimold, who played his freshman year at Loyola (Md.), has scored 1,091 points in two-plus seasons, including 689 with the Falcons the last two years. He scored 402 points as a freshman at Loyola and has averaged 15.2 points as a collegiate player. Other players who have scored 1,000 points or more under Coach Dan Dakich include Anthony Stacey (1,938), Keith McLeod (1,895), Len Matela (1,527) and Dave Esterkamp (1,080).
