CLEVELAND, Ohio - Bowling Green State University senior Stefanie Wenzel has been named to the 2004 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Women's Basketball Team. The league office unveiled the five-member team, which was voted on by the league's faculty athletic representatives, Tuesday (March 16). Wenzel makes the team for the third consecutive year.
Wenzel's inclusion on the team should come as no surprise, as she was named to the Academic All-America First Team earlier in the month.
In addition to Wenzel, the Academic All-MAC team consists of Miami's Colleen Day, Ball State's Kate Endress, Kent State's Lindsay Shearer and Toledo's Kelly Walker.
Back on March 4, Endress had joined Wenzel on the Academic All-America First Team, while Day had earned second-team accolades and Shearer was named to the third team.
Wenzel has a 3.89 cumulative grade-point average as an integrated language arts major.
To be eligible for nomination for the academic all-league team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior-college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award. Outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments from the current season only are considered.
