Three Falcons Earn Academic All-MAC Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced its 2004 women's outdoor track and field Academic All-MAC team Friday, as voted by faculty athletic representatives at MAC institutions. Amber Culp, Kerri McClung and Alicia Taylor helped lead BGSU to a conference-high three representatives.
Not only did all three become Academic All-MAC members, but all three are competing in this weeks Regionals in Baton Rouge, La.
The league champion Chippewas (also with three members) placed Katie Davis, Cami Moll and Rachel Tarvudd. Buffalo, Kent State and Miami all placed two student-athletes on the squad, with Jenny Koeppel and Allison Laske representing the Bulls, Jeanna Fascione and Kelly Green honoring the Golden Flashes while seniors Lauren Collins and Andrea Kremer were named to the squad for the RedHawks.
Rounding out the 2004 Women's Academic All-MAC outdoor track and field team is Ball State's Jill Scully, Toledo's Briana Shook and Western Michigan's Kristi Ford.
Six of the 15 are repeat selections, as Bowling Green's McClung, CMU's Davis, KSU's Fascione, Miami's Collins and Kremer and WMU's Ford all were named to the 2003 squad.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
