Volleyball Begins Practice

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University volleyball head coach Denise Van De Walle welcomed back six players from the 2003 squad, as well as six newcomers to their first practice of the 2004 season on Wednesday, August 11. The Falcons will begin their 22nd season under the leadership of Van De Walle. "It was a really good first day," said Van De Walle. "The players have come back in great shape. The energy level was higher than it's been the last couple preseasons. We're excited to get going." The returning class includes three seniors in Amber Mareski, Melissa Mohr and Taylor Twite, as well as junior Emily Manser, sophomore Chrissy Gothke and red-shirt freshman Corrie Mills. The newcomers include five freshmen: Elizabeth Simon (Bowling Green, Ohio), Stephanie Swiger (Findlay, Ohio), Maggie Karges (Joliet, Ill.), Madeline Means (Caledonia, Mich,) and Kendra Halm (Bucyrus, Ohio), as well as Ashlei Nofzinger (Holland, Ohio), a transfer from Loyola-Chicago. BGSU opens the season on September 3, when they open with Illinois at the Miami Invitational in Miami, Florida.
