Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University football coach Gregg Brandon has announced the team will hold a free public scrimmage in Doyt Perry Stadium at 7 p.m., Sunday, August 22. "It's the night before classes start at BGSU and I think its a great way for everyone to come out and relax and meet new people," said Brandon. "We have great support from our student body and since we are opening up on the road for the first time in three years, I thought this would be a great opportunity for new students and faculty to see our program." Rothenbuhler Moves To Defensive Staff Brandon also announced that second-year assistant coach Troy Rothenbuhler will now coach defensive ends in addition to serving as recruiting coordinator for the Falcons. Last year, Rothenbuhler coached the tight ends. Fifth-year coach Mike Ward will coach the defensive tackles, while offensive assistant Matt Campbell will assume Rothenbuhler's role with the tight ends. ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll Brandon is one of seven MAC coaches appointed by the American Football Coaches Association to serve as a voter for this year's ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. When the Falcons received 22 votes in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Preseason Poll, it marked the 27th time in the last 34 polls since the end of the 2001 season that BGSU had received votes in a major poll. BGSU finished the season ranked 23rd in both major polls. New Look For Falcons The Falcons will wear new uniforms designed by Adidas and will replace the oldest working scoreboard in Division IA football with a newer scoreboard with video capabilities. In addition, the athletic department will unveil its new graphic identity at football media day. The identity will introduce a new "consistent" font for the athletic program, primary wordmarks and monograms, a version of the traditional Falcon head that will be used solely by BGSU athletics and secondary retail marks that will expand BGSU athletics ability to market itself beyond northwest Ohio. "I think our fans will see this as something positive," said BGSU Director of Athletics Paul Krebs. "It's a look that unifies all of our programs and also takes full advantage of the unique tradition that our orange and brown color scheme provides us. When we shared the ideas with our coaches, student-athletes, alumni board, and other key constituents, the support was overwhelming. "
