Melissa Mohr Earns MAC Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Bowling Green State University senior Melissa Mohr has earned the Mid-American Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week award, the conference office has announced. Mohr, a middle hitter on the Falcon volleyball team, earns the honor for the first time in her career.
Mohr, a native of Millersburg, Ohio (West Holmes HS) was named the West Virginia Invitational Tournament MVP, as the Falcons went 4-0 over the weekend, downing High Point (3-0), Robert Morris (3-1), West Virginia (3-1) and Delaware State (3-0) on their way to tournament champions.
For the tournament, Mohr hit .224 with 43 kills, 45 digs, four solo blocks and 18 total blocks. She also recorded 15 kills, nine digs and seven total blocks in a win over Cleveland State.
On the year she is averaging 2.96 kills, 2.29 digs and a team-best 1.29 blocks per game.
Mohr, an interior design major, currently maintains a 3.82 grade-point average.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the previous week's competition. The winners are selected by one of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
The Falcons (5-3) travel to Dayton, Ohio, to compete in the Raider Challenge, hosted by Wright State on Sept. 17-18 this weekend.
