Alex Foster Named CCHA Rookie of the Week

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green freshman Alex Foster was named Central Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Week on Monday, January 9. The Canton, Michigan native had the second three-assist game of his career on Jan. 7, leading BGSU to a 6-2 victory over visiting Alaska Fairbanks. He added a goal the next night in a 6-1 victory for the Falcons.
Foster led the Falcons with 10 shots on goal in the two games and was plus-2 for the weekend. He is tied for third overall on the Falcon squad in scoring (4-11--15) and second on the team with his 11 assists. He has 1-7--8 in his last seven games.
The 6-foot, 187-pound forward is tied for 13th nationally among Division I rookies, averaging 0.83 points per game through 18 games. Foster joins fellow frosh Jonathan Matsumoto who has been tabbed CCHA Rookie of the Week twice this season.
BGSU is 10-7-3 overall and 7-5-2 in the CCHA, good enough for a tie for fourth place with Northern Michigan. The Falcons are off this weekend before travelling to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Jan. 21-22, to face the Wildcats.
