Head Coach Dan Dakich:
"I thought this was a great game. We were awful in the first half and great in the second half. Toledo was outstanding the first 20 mins, but we had guys in our lockerroom that would not let us quit. This was just an unbelievable effort by our kids."
On the crowd support:
"There was a blizzard and the fans still came out to the game. They energized us when we needed stops. Without the crowd this game is over at halftime."
Coach Dakich Post Game Radio Show Comments
"Can you imagine someone that got mad, left at halftime then turned on the radio just now to hear you say a jubiliant Anderson Arena? Unbelievable game, unbelievable effort by our kids on both ends of the floor. I thought Toledo had us shook in the first half, we looked like we were the junior varsity against the varsity. Then in the second half, a little bit of pride took over. I didn't know if we could get the win but I knew that I was going to be proud of them, at least in the second half and we ended up getting the win. Germain (Fitch) just really guarded and I'm so proud of him and hopefully he is alright. He got caught in the deal down here on the court and I don't know if he is alright or not. He was in there hurting bad and I just pray to God that he is okay because I would rather lose and keep him than get him hurt again."
"What I basically just told them was that we were scared. We were acting scared, we were playing scared, we were shook. Our seniors were bad, our play was awful, our point guards were horrible and that would be the very G-rated version of what went on. I told them this morning in the walk-through that we may lose but I'm not going down easy. They can do what they want but if we're going to lose it is at least going to be a fight with me. And I thought our guys just played...what a remarkable game, you just don't do that against a quality team like that but we did, we don't want to have to do it again, but we got it done and I couldn't be more proud right now."
"I thought the key stretch there, the key stretch was getting a stop the last possession of the game to tell you the truth, but I thought John Floyd really made big plays. He hit threes, looked confident and I had really been on him after the game. I thought he was awful at Ball State. I didn't like his enthusiasm, his aggressiveness but he came back tonight and boy oh boy did he play when the Rockets came in here and he should be really proud of what he was able to do."
"We've been talking to Germain about playing like Larry Johnson not Martha Johnson. Sometimes he doesn't know how good he is. The other day in practice I just stopped it four times and said this is where you have to score. You're not looking to pass it out...just go score and he did. He played great."
"It is great now, awful for two hours, unbelievably awful for the first hour but to all of the people here that braved the snow storm, thank you so much for coming out it made a big, big difference in the game..."
"In a closed gym, this would not have gotten done but in the "House that Roars" with it roaring tonight, it got it done and thanks a lot to everybody."
Germain Fitch on being injured in the celebration after the game
"It was just a little celebration, we won the game. I'm fine."
Fitch on the crowd support:
"We had a packed house and in the second half we started playing Bowling Green basketball. There is nothing better then playing in Anderson Arena when there is a packed house."
