Home-and-Home Series Set Between BGSU and Fighting Irish
Bowling Green hosts Notre Dame on Friday, Jan. 28, before travelling to South Bend on Saturday, Jan. 29. Both games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. faceoffs and can be heard on 88.1 FM with play-by-play from Andy Evans.
Friday Night Lights...Hockey Style
It will be a Friday Friendzy for the Falcons in four of their final five home games this season. Four of the last five home-ice contests will be played on Friday nights in the BGSU Ice Arena, beginning this Friday, Jan. 28, when Notre Dame visits Bowling Green. The only home Saturday game remaining for BGSU will come on Feb. 19 against Western Michigan.
Falcons Face Notre Dame for Final Time this Season
It's even-steven between BGSU and Notre Dame heading into this weekend's matchup. The overall series between the two schools is tied, 32-32-5. The Falcons won (3-1) and tied (4-4) against the Irish earlier this year in November with 14 of the 21 Falcon points coming from freshmen.
Road to the Joe Coming to Bowling Green This Friday Night
The third annual CCHA Road to the Joe tour, a combined marketing effort of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association and Olympia Entertainment, will be making its third and fourth stops on the CCHA arena circuit this weekend with stops in Bowling Green, Ohio, on January 28 and the University of Michigan on January 29. The "Road to the Joe" tour, created to promote the CCHA Super 6 Playoff Championship at Joe Louis Arena, consists of a mobile display, the Mason Cup Playoff Championship Trophy, Super 6 posters, a Super 6 Fan Guide, ticket brochures, a t-shirt giveaway and an Enter-to-Win contest for a one-night stay at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center and two tickets to all three days of Super 6 competition March 17-18-19, 2005. Fans also have the opportunity to have their picture taken with College Hockey at the Joe mascot, Joe College, and the Mason Cup trophy, named after legendary hockey coach, and current MSU Athletics Director, Ron Mason.
Nesdill Gets First Collegiate Action
FR defenseman Mike Nesdill appeared in his first collegiate game on Jan. 21. The Phoenix, Ariz., native had missed the first 20 games this season due to a shoulder injury suffered in an exhibition game on Oct. 15 vs. Windsor. He played again on Saturday and finished the weekend with one shot and even on the plus/minus.
First to Score, First to Win
BGSU is now 1-6-3 when the opponent scores first and 9-3-0 when it scores first.
Scoreless Power Play on Jan. 21
The Falcons were held scoreless on the power play for just the fifth time this season on Jan. 21 at NMU (0-for-9). BGSU is 0-3-2 in games it doesn't score a PPG and 10-6-1 when it does score a PPG.
30-Something for Falcons
BGSU has had six-straight games with 30-or-more shots on goal and are 2-3-1 over that stretch. The last stretch of 30-plus shots that long for the Falcons was eight-straight games from Nov. 9, 2002 through Jan. 4, 2003 and were 1-5-2 during that stretch. Overall this season, BGSU is 5-4-1 when recording 30 or more shots.
