Falcons Fall To Wildcats In Season Opener

LEXINGTON, Kentucky - The Bowling Green State University gymnastics squad fell 194.850-190.150 to the University of Kentucky in the 22nd annual "Excite Night" Saturday in Lexington, Kentucky. Senior Breanne Metzger finished second in the all-around with a 38.075, as the top Falcon performer.
On the vault, UK took home the top five honors, with junior Jessica Guyer (9.6) and freshman Jacque Barnhardt (9.55) securing the top to Falcon finishes.
Senior Kari Elste placed third on the uneven bars with a 9.8 as the top Falcon performer. Junior Jessica Bradley (9.725) and sophomore Sakura Tomita (9.55) rounded out the top three finishers.
Metzger (9.775) placed fifth on the balance beam, while freshman Jessica Ewart posted a 9.725 for seventh place.
The floor exercise saw Guyer bring home third place with a 9.775, while senior Kristin DiPietro finished seventh with a 9.675.
BGSU returns to action Sunday, January 16, when they will host Ball State inside the Eppler Complex. The meet is set to begin at 2:00 p.n.
