The following are notes from today's NABC Classic game in Blacksburg, Virginia against Radford. BGSU finished 1-2 in the event hosted by Virginia Tech.
Against Radford
After allowing Western Carolina and Virginia Tech to shoot a combined 37.6% from the field, Radford shot 55.1% against the Falcons.
The Highlanders connected on 22 of 35 free throws, while BGSU hit on 11 of 16 attempts.
BGSU won the battle of the boards, 36-31.
The Falcons made a season-high six three-point field goals.
Junior Martin Samarco led BGSU with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Freshman Erik Marschall made his second straight start and had 14 points and two blocked shots. He made seven of 10 field goal attempts.
Junior John Floyd came off the bench and had 13 points and four rebounds.
Senior Mawel Soler had eight points, seven rebounds and a career-high eight assists. He also had two steals.
Freshman Darryl Clements had six points for the second straight game. He also had two steals.
Sophomore Perrick Robinson made his first three-pointer of the year.
Junior Matt Lefeld chipped in two points.
Freshman Nick Wilson saw his first action of the year with two minutes of playing time.
The Tournament
BGSU shot 39.0% from three-point range (16 of 41).
The Falcons had eight players foul out.
Opponents shot 112 free throws to 55 for BGSU in three games against the Falcons.
Samarco led the team averaging 16.7 points anad added five rebounds per game.
Floyd averaged 13.3 points and 3.3 assists.
Marschall averaged 10.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and shot 54.2% from the field.
Soler averaged 7.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and shot 76.9% from the field.
Lefeld averaged 6.7 points and 6.7 rebounds.
Clements averaged four points and two rebounds.
Robinson had 2.7 points per game and started all three contests.
