BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University hockey head coach Scott Paluch sat down with the media on Tuesday afternoon to discus next year's recruiting class. He announced that Jacob Cepis, Phil Greer, Tim Maxwell, Todd McIlrath and James Perkin will join the Falcons for the 2006-07 season.
Head Coach Scott Paluch's opening statement
"We are excited to have Jacob Cepis and James Perkin added to the mix. They will join Todd McIlrath and Tim Maxwell for most of next year's incoming class."
"Cepis is a local kid out of Cleveland, who is now playing for Cedar Rapids. He is a very quick, skilled forward who brings a lot of speed and grit to the game. His skill level will really be able to help us out."
"James Perkin is another high-end skilled guy. He brings a solid two-way game. He is a center iceman who knows both ends of the ice pretty well. He is starting to pick up his offensive game a little bit. I think he is going to add a lot in terms of overall understanding the game."
"The thing I really like about both those guys is their work ethic. They will both fit in nicely."
Tim Alexander (former Cleveland Barons Head Coach) said Cepis could lead the league in scoring. How do you feel about that?
"That's quite a statement. We are very high on his skill level. He has the total package to produce at a high level."
What can you say about Tim Maxwell?
"Tim Maxwell is in his transfer year. He comes to us after spending a year at the University of Maine. He is a very smart, skilled, offensive defensemen. He posses really good skills offensively, but he is one of those deceptively smart defensive players. His strength is not what is the key to his defense, it is about how smart he is and how he understands the game. I like what he is bringing to our team in terms of leadership, even though he will jump into that sophomore class, but he is a guy with a year of college under his belt, which has allowed him to take on a good leadership role."
What role will Phil Greer play?
"Phil Greer comes from Alpena, who has played high school, prep school and junior level hockey. He will come in and add depth to the goaltending."
