BOWLING GREEN, OHIO -
BGSU Head Coach Gregg Brandon
On what he told his players after the game...
"I told them that they played their hearts out. They played their guts out. It was a tremendous effort. Nothing to be ashamed of and I am damn proud of my team. I give all the credit to Toledo and coach Amstutz, they did a great job. But I am not taking anything away from my team either. They made one last play, that's all it was."
On all the scoring in the second half...
"I thought both defenses were getting tired. I think they wore us out running the ball in the second half and we fatigued them in the second half."
On the penalties...
"We shot ourselves in the foot a couple times with procedure penalties, but guys just have to hang in there. A couple of them did stall some drives and that did hurt us."
Comments on Charles Sharon
"He had a great career here and is a tremendous football player and a great guy. I think Chuck will get a shot at the next level. He has been a big play guy time and time again I wish him and all the seniors the best."
On the Brown jerseys...
"It was just something that we thought would be good for the rivalry game."
Devon Parks
Talk about your overall thoughts
"Everyone played their hearts out, and the scoreboard didn't show a win but the seniors went out as winners."
Talk about how Toledo kept coming after your guys...
"Coach did a good job preparing us, he told us everything that they were going to do. I think our defense stepped up and took it, and that showed on the last play of the game."
PJ Pope
Talk about your overall thoughts
"I think we played one heck of a game, both teams fought hard. We didn't have the outcome that we wanted, but I am so proud of this team and how hard everyone played."
Talk about these next few days
"They are going to be stressful, we controlled our own destiny and we didn't get the job done. It's going to be hard to sit back and see what happens."
What do you want to tell the fans?
"Thank you! I couldn't ask to be in a better place. It feels like home."
Charles Sharon
Talk about being a senior
"I love my teammates; I have made a lot of friends. I am so proud of what we have accomplished over the last few years. I am going to miss the atmosphere of this place. I am just shocked right now.
What did the captains say to you after the game?
"Stick together. It's hard right now, not to stick together but this loss is hard, but I think we will be ok."
Toledo Head Coach Tom Amstutz
"I was excited to be in the overtime position. I thought our team matched up well in overtime with the short field. I was very optimistic going into it. Yet, they have a great team that can put points on the board. I knew if we could just get one stop, I really believed we would keep on scoring."
Did that BG false start have a major shift on the game?
"Yea, that was an important little shift there, but there are a lot of plays like that, that are big plays in the game, and that is why the game was so much fun. Again, I tip my hat to Bowling Green. It was one of those games where two special teams were on the field."
How did you get your guys to regroup after last week?
"The biggest thing after last week was we had a team that was down and hurting. As a staff we burned up the film and did not watch it. We did extra things to help our players mentally to be able to play one more special game. The seniors have done everything we have asked from them as a program. They provide a lot of leadership."
Where does this rank in your career of coaching?
"This is a great victory and it is up near the top."
