BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University senior Julie Trundle has been named to the Soccer America Women's College Team of the Week, the publication announced Wednesday (Nov. 9). Trundle earns a national honor for the first time in her Falcon career.
Trundle's award marks the sixth week in the history of the Falcon women's soccer program, and the first this season, that a BGSU player has been named to a national weekly team.
Trundle, a native of Medina, Ohio, helped the top-seeded Falcons to the Mid-American Conference Tournament title last week. She helped the Brown and Orange post three shutouts as BG advanced past Toledo, Miami and Kent State to win the league tourney crown and advance to the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive year.
The Falcons battled to scoreless ties vs. both Toledo and KSU in the league tourney, but BGSU advanced via penalty kicks, 3-2, in each match. Against both the Rockets and the Golden Flashes, Trundle converted the match-ending penalty kick to break a 2-2 PK deadlock. She was one of four Falcons named to the MAC All-Tournament Team.
Trundle and the Falcons (14-6-2) will head to Notre Dame, Ind., this weekend, taking on Michigan State in Friday's (Nov. 11) NCAA Championships first-round match at Alumni Field.
The Soccer America Women's College Team of the Week is comprised of 11 players from around the country, chosen on the basis of their play the previous week. This week's team reads as follows...
