CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Bowling Green State University women's basketball junior Ali Mann has been named a Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon (Dec. 12). Mann earns the honor for the first time this season and the fourth time in her Falcon career.
Mann, a forward from Chelsea, Mich. (Chelsea H.S.), averaged 15.0 points and a team-high 8.5 rebounds as the Falcons won a pair of games to remain unbeaten on the season. BGSU has set a school record for the best start to a season, with a 7-0 record.
Mann tied for the team lead in scoring last week. She posted her first double-double of the year, with 14 points and 11 rebounds, as the Falcons downed Duquesne, 76-51, on Tuesday (Dec. 6). Then, Mann had 16 points and six boards in BG's win at Florida International Saturday (Dec. 10).
On the week, Mann shot 53.8 percent, making seven of her 13 shots from the field. She went 2-for-5 from three-point land.
On the season, Mann is averaging 13.6 points and a team-high 8.6 rebounds per game. She currently ranks 12th in the MAC in the former category and fourth in the latter. Mann is ranked among the MAC leaders in a total of seven categories.
Mann was named the MAC's Player of the Week in the East Division. Central Michigan's Ann Skufca was the West Division recipient.
The Falcons of head coach Curt Miller are idle from competition this week. After taking a break for final exams, BGSU will return to action with a game at Oakland University on Thursday, Dec. 22.
