Sharon Named 2005 Football MVP

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Senior receiver Charles Sharon was named team MVP at the 2005 BGSU Football Awards Banquet, December 3. BGSU finished their season 6-5 and shared the MAC East divisional crown with Akron and Miami.
As a Falcon, Sharon caught at least one pass in a school-record 48 consecutive games and leaves BGSU as the all-time leader in receptions (232), receiving yards (3,450), receiving TDs (34), seasons with 1,000 or more receiving yards (2), and all-purpose yards (4,519). He is ranked fourth all-time at BGSU in TDs scored with 35 and second in punt return yards with 848.
In his final campaign, Sharon, a second-team All-MAC honoree, finished fifth in the MAC in receptions per game (6.73) and in receiving yards (93.5) and was third in the league in punt returns (10.8) and sixth in all-purpose yards (135.9).
The receiver was named MAC East Offensive Player of the Week (10/08/05) for his career-high 10 receptions for 185 yards and a score which contributed to the 38-14 win over Ohio. He also earned MAC East Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the week Nov. 15 when he had seven catches for 71 yards and two kickoffs for 75 yards in the Falcons 42-14 victory over Miami.
