
Dietz and Reimold Lead the Way as Falcons Defeat Xavier, 14-4

Cincinnati, Ohio - Sophomore Josh Dietz and junior Nolan Reimold combined to drive in 11 of BGSU's 14 runs on Tuesday afternoon, en route to a 14-4 drubbing of Xavier in Cincinnati. Reimold and Dietz each smacked two home runs apiece, including Dietz' first career four-bagger via a grand slam in the fourth inning. The Plymouth, Ind. added a two-run blast in the eighth inning. Reimold had a solo shot and three-run homer.
Dietz' grand slam to right-center field in the fourth inning broke a 1-1 tie and BGSU never looked back. Kevin Longstreth (sacrifice fly) and Reimold (single) each drove in a run in the sixth inning to move BGSU ahead, 7-1.
Xavier made it 7-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning. However, in the eighth inning Reimold struck with a solo homer, Deitz had a two-run blast, and Jeff Warnock had an RBI-double to put the Falcons up 11-2.
After the Musketeers plated a couple of runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, Reimold hit his second home run of the game and seventh of the season, a three-run shot, to make it a 14-4 contest.
The Falcons registered its sixth game with double-digit runs and 10th game with double-digit hit totals. BGSU held a 16-12 advantage in hits vs. Xavier.
Sophomore Adam Gump (2-0) picked up the win, pitching four innings and allowing just one run on five hits with one strikeout and one walk.

• SO Josh Dietz' first career home run came via a grand slam in the fourth inning. He added a two-run blast in the eighth inning.
•JR Nolan Reimold had his second multi-home run game in less than a week. Last Wednesday, March 16, the outfielder had three home runs vs. Findlay while on Tuesday he had two homers at Xavier.
•JR Nolan Reimold leads BGSU with seven home runs and 23 RBIs in just 15 games. Of his 22 hits this year, 13 are for extra bases
•BGSU's 12-3 record is its best start to a season since 1996 (12-3).
• The Falcons entered today's game leading the Mid-American Conference with a team batting average of .315.
