BGSU's Michael Hodgson Named to CCHA All-Rookie Team

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green freshman defenseman Michael Hodgson (Surfside, Calif.) was named today to the Central Collegiate Hockey Association All-Rookie Team, as voted on by the 12 league coaches. Hodgson becomes the first Falcon defenseman to earn this honor and just the sixth overall Falcon ever to be named to the All-Rookie team, which was started in 1988.
In addition to Hodgson, forward Jonathan Matsumoto (Orleans, Ontario) was named CCHA All-Rookie Honorable Mention.
Hodgson leads all Falcon defensemen in points (17), goals (4), shots (57), and games played (34). He is tied with junior Don Morrison among BGSU blueliners with 13 assists. He has a plus/minus rating of plus-4 and had two three-game point streaks this season. Hodgson saw time on both BGSU's penalty kill and power play units. Twelve of Hodgson's 17 points came in CCHA play, where he was plus-7.
Matsumoto is tied for the team-lead with 30 points, while leading the Falcons in goals (16), power-play goals (9), game-winning goals (5), and shot percentage (.180). Of Matsumoto's 30 points, 24 came in CCHA play, including 12 of his 16 goals. His five GWGs rank him second in the CCHA and third in the country, while he is the 10th in the nation in scoring among rookie players (0.88 ppg.).
