Falcons Place Fifth At Miami Invitational

OXFORD, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University track and field team placed fifth among 13 schools with 70 points on Saturday afternoon at the Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio. Ball State won the meet with 144.50 points, while Miami (113), Kent State (112) and Cincinnati (87.50) rounded out the top five.
The sprint and hurdle events saw several Falcons have impressive performances. Sophomore Jessica White finished fifth in the 100-meters (12.38) and third in the 200-meters (24.87). Senior Amber Walker placed seventh in the 400-meters with a time of 59.87.
Senior Nicole Suitor and freshman Jamie Roflow led the Falcons in the distance events. Suitor finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:08.29), while Roflow also placed third in the 5,000-meters (17.25.63).
Erica Wilson was the top performer in the jumps, finishing fifth in the high jump (1.60 meters) and seventh in the long jump (5.47 meters).
Kerri McClung captured the shot put crown with a toss of 15.44 meters, an NCAA Regional qualifying mark, which is also a new BGSU school record in the shot put.
Up next for the Falcons are the All-Ohio Championships in Columbus, Ohio, on April 14-15.
