Falcons Place Third At Oliver Nikoloff Invitational

Cincinnati, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University track and field team continued their impressive start to the outdoor season, finishing third with 133 points out of eleven schools at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational. Eastern Michigan won the meet with 155 points, with the host Bearcats finishing second with 150.
The distance events have had a great season thus far, and Saturday afternoon was no different. In three events the distance group captured 26 points. Melissa Krueger captured the 1,500-meters (4:45.83), fellow senior Nicole Suitor won the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:09.46) and sophomore Bridget Dalic finished third in the 5,000-meters (18:12.68).
BGSU also performed very well in the throws. Sophomore Andrean Bunko captured her third straight javelin event, this time, with a toss of 37.18 meters. Senior Kerri McClung finished third in both the shot put (13.73 meters) and hammer throw (48.56 meters), with Whitney Harman leading the Falcons in the discus with a toss of 38.43 meters.
The Brown and Orange relay squad finished third in the 4x100 (48.95) and 4x400 (4:06.53).
Up next for the Falcons is a trip to Oxford, Ohio, for a meet with fellow MAC competitor Miami, Ohio.
