Falcon Hockey Holds End-of-Season Banquet

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University hockey team held its end of the season banquet last Saturday, April 16, at the Bowen-Thompson Student Union. The 2004-05 Falcon Hockey team had home-ice for the 2005 Central Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs for the first time in 10 years and finished fifth in the final CCHA standings, the highest league finish in eight seasons.
Senior Jordan Sigalet, BGSU's first Hobey Baker Award finalist since Brian Holzinger in 1995, won the Jim Sears Most Valuable Player Award, the Coach's Award, and the Terry Flanagan Award for most courageous player. The 2001, seventh-round draft pick of the Boston Bruins ended his career with a school-record .915 save pct. through 102 games. He also finished second all-time at BGSU with a 2.98 goals-against-average and third all-time with 3,147 saves. Sigalet's 5,924:09 career minutes played are the fifth-most in BGSU history. He was named All-CCHA First Team in 2004 and All-CCHA Second Team in 2005.
Terry Burton, a 1992 BGSU graduate, was recognized for his service and support to the Falcon Hockey team with the Dr. Tom Wojciechowski Distinguished Service award.
Captains Sigalet, Ryan Minnabarriet and Alex Rogosheske received the Dr. Ron Zwierlein Leadership Award, freshman Jonathan Matsumoto captured the Sam Cooper Leading Scorer Trophy (18g, 14a, 32 points), freshman Michael Hodgson won the Jim Ruehl Award Best Defensive Player, senior Taylor Christie won the Bill & Helen Lloyd Award for most improved player, and sophomore Jonathan Sigalet won the Jack Gregory Scholar-Athlete Award.
