Sprints and Hurdles
Sophomore Jessica White will be the top Falcon in the 100-meters and 200-meters this weekend. She ranks 14th in the MAC in the 100 with a career-best 12.12, which she set at the All-Ohio Championships in mid April. She also ranks ninth in the 200 with a personal-best time of 24.64, also set at the All-Ohio Championships.
Senior Amber Walker will have the best opportunity to capture some points in the 400-meters after posting a season-best 57.04 this past weekend at the Campbell/Wright Open in Akron, Ohio. Walker registered a personal-best time of 55.69 in the prelims at last year's MAC Championships, which ranks fifth all-time at BGSU.
In the hurdle events, look for Nicole Standback to make some noise after coming-off her best meet of the outdoor season last weekend at the Campbell/Wright Open. Her time of 14.52 in the 100-meter hurdles ranks 10th in the MAC this season.
Mid-Distance
Melissa Krueger will lead the Falcons in the mid-distance events. The senior ranks 10th in the MAC in the 800-meters with a time of 2:14.74 set at the Miami Invite. She also ranks sixth in the conference in the 1,500-meters with a time of 4:33.90. Last season she placed eight at the Outdoor Championships in the 1,500 with a time of 4:35.00.
Freshman Jamie Roflow will join Krueger in the 1,500 and should allow the Falcons to pick up several points in this event. She ranks 10th in the MAC with a time of 4:37.21.
Distance
Roflow is not only competing in the 1,500, she will also run the 5,000-meters, as well as the steeplechase. She ranks 11th in both the 5,000 (17:25.63) and steeplechase (11:21.94). Her steeple time ranks fourth all-time in the BGSU record books. Senior Nicole Suitor will join Roflow in the steeplechase. She ranks third all-time in the record books with a time of 11:08.29, set at the Miami Invite.
Stephanie Hillman and Elise Gould will try to capture points in the 10,000-meters. Hillman ranks eighth in the MAC with a time of 37:24.84, while Gould's time of 38:04.36 places her 10th in the same event.
Jumps
A pair of sophomores will lead the Falcons in the jumps. Veronica Vance is coming off her best performance this season last weekend at the Campbell/Wright Open where she set season-best marks of 18-02.50 (long jump) and 38-03.50 (triple jump). Vance owns the fourth-best triple jump distance in school history with a mark of 38-02.75.
Joining Vance will be fellow sophomore Erica Wilson. She has a season-best high jump mark of 5-03.75 set at the All-Ohio Championships last month and owns a personal-best jump of 19-05.50 in the long jump, which ranks second in BGSU history.
Throws
The shot put, hammer, javelin and discuss events have been a steady supply of points the last few seasons at BGSU. Leading the way is school record holder Kerri McClung. Just last weekend she broke her own record in the shot put by two full feet. Her toss of 52-08.25 at the Campbell/Wright Open surpassed her previous school record toss of 50-08, set four weeks prior. She currently ranks fifth in the Mid-East and 17th in the nation in the shot put.
McClung will be joined by freshman Whitney Hartman in the hammer throw. McClung has a season-best toss of 160-05, while Hartman is right behind her with a distance of 160-03.
Last season Andrean Bunko had her best performance of the year, posting a mark of 141-08 at the MAC Outdoor Championships, placing her fifth in the event and also qualified her for Regionals, where she finished ninth. This season she has three first-place finishes in the javelin including a personal-best throw of 142-07, set at the Miami Invitational.
Freshman Lauren Bryant ranks 10th in the MAC in the discus throw with a mark of 143-03, and should be the top Falcon in that event.
The meet is a three-day event, with Thursday and Saturday's action starting at 10:30 a.m., while Friday's contests will start at 10:00 a.m.
