Jonathan Sigalet Selected in 4th Round of NHL Draft by Boston Bruins

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University student-athlete Jonathan Sigalet (Surrey, British Columbia) was selected in the fourth round of Saturday's 2005 National Hockey League Draft by the Boston Bruins. Sigalet, who will be a junior for the Falcons this upcoming season, was the 100th overall pick of the draft, which was held in Ottawa, Ontario.
Sigalet becomes the 63rd Falcon to be selected in the 42-year history of the NHL Draft. He is the highest Falcon to be drafted since Peter Ratchuk was selected 25th overall in the first round of the 1996 draft by Colorado. Sigalet also joins older brother Jordan, a 2005 Hobey Baker Award finalist, in the Bruin organization. Jordan was a seventh-round selection of Boston's in the 2001 draft. Jordan and Jonathan are the only two Falcons to be drafted by the Bruins.

Jonathan was ranked 88th among draft-eligible North American skaters by the NHL Central Scouting Service. In 2004-05, Sigalet played in 35 of 36 games for the Falcons. He was the second-leading defenseman in scoring with a career-high 16 points (3g, 13a). Of his 16 points, 15 came on the power play. He had a career-high three assists at Nebraska-Omaha on Nov. 13 andscored his first goal of the season vs. Wayne State on Nov. 18. He had two PPGs and one GWG, all at Michigan State, on Dec. 3 in a 2-1 BGSU win. Sigalet had two three-game point streaks while registering a point in four of his final five games (0-5--5). He ended with 14 penalties and 36 PIM and was named to the CCHA's Scholar-Athlete Team with a 3.87 GPA in health science.
