BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Former Falcons Nolan Reimold and Burke Badenhop are excelling in their first season in the minor leagues. Reimold was selected in the 2nd round (61st overall) by the Baltimore Orioles while the Detroit Tigers selected Badenhop in the 19th round (570th overall) of the MLB Amateur Draft.
Reimold batted .294 with a team-leading nine homeruns along with 30 RBI in 50 games with the Aberdeen IronBirds of the New York-Penn League. Reimold was then promoted to the Class-A Frederick Keys of the Carolina League on August 16th. He blasted four homeruns in his first five games for the Keys.
Burke Badenhop received the New York-Penn League Pitcher of the Week honor for the period ending September 5. Oneonta's big right-hander turned in nearly identical gems last week, twice allowing one earned run on five hits and a walk in seven innings. On August 29, Badenhop struck out four as he earned the win in an 11-4 triumph over Vermont. Then, on Saturday, the 6-foot-5 hurler yielded two runs -- one earned -- while striking out six, earning the W in a tight 3-2 decision over Lowell. For the former Bowling Green State University All-American, it was the third straight start in which he'd allowed five hits in seven innings. His previous outing, on August 24, resulted in a seven-inning complete-game shutout over Tri-City. The Detroit Tigers' 2005 16th-round pick was 6-4 with a 2.92 ERA in 14 starts for Oneonta through Monday.
Badenhop's stats for the week: 2 G, 2 GS, 0 CG, 0 SHO, 2-0, 1.29 ERA, 14.0 IP, 10 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 10 SO
