BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - After an impressive sweep over Ball State on Saturday, the Falcons could not keep the momentum going Wednesday against Miami. The RedHawks won 3-0 while never trailing.
BGSU hit a respectable .205, but consistency was the problem as the Falcons struggled to string together consecutive points.
"We had trouble all night, it was a night full of errors," said Head Coach Denise Van De Walle.
Despite Senior Emily Manser blasting four kills in the opening act, BGSU dropped game one 30-25. The Brown and Orange fought back to even the game at 21-21 after an early 7-2 deficit, but were unable to finish the rally.
Game two started the same way, with the Falcons in a 7-2 hole. Redshirt freshman Kendra Halm entered in game two and boosted the Falcon attack.
"Kendra came in game two and ignited the offense with a couple kills," said Coach Van De Walle.
Despite the spark plug, the Falcon rally fell short once again in game two, 30-26.
After returning from the locker room, another Falcon reserve lifted the offense with some big kills. Sophomore Madeline Means pounded four kills with no errors, good for a .600 percentage (3-0-5). BGSU kept the score close early before a six-point RedHawk run with the score at 23-21 gave Miami all they needed to take game three (30-23).
RedHawk sophomore Kate Norris burdened the Falcons all night. Norris hit .667 with 12 kills in the match.
"We couldn't block her (Norris)," said Coach Van De Walle, "she hit everything."
The Falcons look to bounce back against Northern Illinois and even their conference record. The home match is scheduled for Sunday, October 2 at 3 PM.
