"We are deeply saddened by this loss today," Richard Brosal, President and CEO of the UHL, said in a statement. "Marc was not only a respected coach in this league, but also a great friend to us all. The United Hockey League family sends our thoughts and prayers to the Potvin family, the Adirondack Frostbite organization and players."

He was in his second full season as head coach of the Frostbite, a team based in Glens Falls, N.Y. He took over midway through the 2003-04 season, according to his biography on the team's website.
He played at BGSU from 1986 to '90.
Potvin lived in Glens Falls and in North Canton, Ohio, with his wife, Maria, and their two children.
BGSU Head Coach Scott Paluch's thoughts on former teammate Marc Potvin:
"We offer our condolences to the Potvin family. He was a tremendous teammate. I had the good fortune to play beside him for two years. The things that made him important here, is what allowed him to be successful in the National Hockey League, as well as his coaching career. He was a team-first guy that brought that to his everyday life. He was an upbeat, positive guy. This is a very sad day for the Falcon family."
