Pope Competes For East At 2006 Hula Bowl

Honolulu, Hawaii - Former Bowling Green State University running back P.J. Pope was a member of the winning team at the 2006 Hula Bowl played Saturday in Hawaii.
Pope was the teams second leading receiver for the East with two catches for 21 yards and also carried the ball three times for 16 yards, third highest on the squad. He also threw one pass which was incomplete.
The East defeated the West, 10-7.
Pope, a native of Farifield, Ohio and a graduate of Wyoming High School is the only player in BGSU history to rush for more than 3,000 yards in a career and accumulate more than 1,000 yards receiving as well. He finished as the school's third all-time leading rusher with 3,116 yards, tied for third in Falcon history with 33 rushing TDs and was tied for second in BGSU lore with 41 career TDs overall. His 5.2 yards per carry average is tied for the third best mark in school history and his 4,300 all-purpose yards is the second most for a Falcon. He tied for fourth all-time at BG in scoring with 246 points.
