Recognized by the Nation
Falcon Volleyball recorded votes in the latest CSTV/AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll, released October 9th. With four points, the Falcons rank 33rd in the country. It's Bowling Green's first appearance in the poll since 1991.
"It's great for the program and the conference to be mentioned in the poll this week," said Head Coach Denise Van De Walle. "It's great to have two teams in the poll, even though we're in the `others receiving votes' category. Maybe this will help turn some heads as to just how good the MAC really is."
Making Another Amendment to the Record Books
The Falcons re-wrote the record books for offensive efficiency once again on October 6th by hitting for an all-time high .512 (52-8-86) in a sweep over Buffalo. Bowling Green had made a change to the school record book with an offensive explosion earlier this season against Oakland University on Sept. 9th. They recorded a .500 hitting percentage, the then highest for a single match in school history. The previous high before 2006 was .473 (29-3-55) set back in 1987 in a match against Xavier.
Falcons Making National Noise
BGSU can be found all over the national statistical rankings. The Falcons are ranked ninth in hitting percentage (.296), 18th in assists (15.16/game) and 17th in kills (16.54/game). Bowling Green's .889 winning percentage is the ninth highest in the country.
Hottest Team in the MAC
Bowling Green has ripped off twelve consecutive wins. During the stretch, the Falcons are hitting a blistering .326 while suffocating the opposing attack by holding them to a .130 hitting pace.
