BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Falcons will open the conference season on the road at rival Toledo on Friday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. The following day, the Orange and Brown continue north to compete against the defending Mid-American Conference tournament champions Eastern Michigan. Saturday's dual meet is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
SCOUTING THE ROCKETS (10/21)
Toledo enters the meet at 2-0 after its opening weekend...the Rockets defeated Lewis University (145-57) on Friday and Oakland University (152-136) on Saturday...three Rockets picked up two victories a piece at the Oakland meet.
THE ROCKETS AND THE MAC
Last season, UT finished fifth at the MAC tournament championships behind BGSU...the Rockets went 3-3-1 in the conference...UT and BGSU will have meet 364 days prior to Friday's meet...UT took the win in BGSU's pool...BGSU will be the first conference opponent for UT in the 2006 season.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES (10/22)
Eastern Michigan will have one MAC meet in their back pocket before hosting the Falcons...EMU will challenge the visiting Ohio University Bobcats on Friday, October 27...although it is early in the season, BGSU and EMU have competed once already...EMU won all four of the free relays and the 300 breast relay...BGSU finished first in both the 200 and 400 medleys and in the 300 back relays.
THE EAGLES AND THE MAC
EMU is the defending conference tournament champion...EMU (637.5) edged out Miami (626.5) by 11 points in the team competition to be named conference champions...the Eagles return 16 letterwinners from last season's championship squad...EMU beat BGSU by 50 points last season in conference competition...Alisha Yee recorded two first place victories in the 100 back and the 200 IM...Sami Jordan, Caroline Keating and Kimberly Albin each racked up top three finishes.
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
BGSU has competed in two relay tri-meets to date (Tom Stubbs, 10/13; Grand Opening Relays, 10/21)...thus far, the Falcons have recorded five first place finishes in eighteen races...additionally, they have finished in the top three eighteen times (1st,5; 2nd, 8; 3rd, 5)...BGSU has yet to win the same race twice this year...the Orange and Brown's largest margin of victory was nearly seven minutes in the 500 free relay at the UC Grand Opening Relays.

The Falcons finished the 2005-06 season just out of team medal contention with their fourth place finish at the conference championships...the fourth place finish was the second highest under head coach Keri Buff...it was also the second highest finish since the last fourth place finish in the 1993-94 season...the Falcons highest recent finish was their bronze medal effort in the 2003-04 season...the current squad posts five MAC medalists.
BGSU NAMES SWIMMING AND DIVING CAPTAINS
Junior diver Jill Auer and senior swimmers Caroline Keating and Brit O'Conner were named the captains for the 2006-07 squad...Auer is a second year captain while Keating and O'Conner will each serve their first season this year.
ROOKIE FALCONS
Freshman Meg Richardson was the lead swimmer in both Falcon relay wins in Cincinnati...Frankie Houck contributed on the second leg of the dominant 500 free victory...Chelsea Lopus also swam second on three Falcon relays which garnished second place finishes.
