TOLEDO, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - The University of Toledo held off the Bowling Green State University football team, 31-21, Tuesday night (Nov. 21) at the Glass Bowl. The game was the final 2006 contest for both the Falcons and the Rockets. A few notes and numbers from the game ...
* Redshirt sophomore Corey Partridge had 14 receptions to tie the single-game record ... Robert Redd had set the mark in 2002, in a game vs. Northern Illinois.
* For Partridge, his previous career best had been 10 catches, in the game at Akron earlier this month (Nov. 4, 2006).
* Partridge also set a career best in receiving yards, with 161, to top his previous career standard ... that previous best came in his first collegiate game, at Wisconsin last season.
* The Falcons had 20 first downs to the Rockets' 16, and BGSU had a 322-315 advantage in total yards of offense.
* Redshirt sophomore quarterback Anthony Turner completed 21-of-35 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns ... he tied his career best in the latter category, having also thrown for three scores vs. Buffalo earlier this season.
* Fifth-year senior Kenneth Brantley caught two of those TD passes ... for Brantley, they marked his first and second scores of his BG career, in his final game ... Brantley had a total of four receptions for 46 yards in the game, second behind Partridge in each category.
* On BGSU's opening drive of the game, junior Pete Winovich ran up the middle on a fake punt, gaining seven yards on a fourth-and-3 play.
* In his final game as a Falcon, Devon Parks got to Toledo QB Clint Cochran for a sack on a third-and-11 play with one minute left in the first half ... the play went for a loss of 10 yards ... for Parks, the sack was his team-leading ninth of the season and the 22nd of his illustrious BGSU career, most among active Falcons.
* On the very next play, Partridge returned a punt for a total of 29 yards to the UT 49 ... a Rocket personal foul at the end of the play gave the Falcons the ball at the UT 34 with 49 seconds left in the half.
* BGSU covered those 34 yards in just 35 seconds, on a six-play touchdown drive ... the big play on that drive was a 21-yard pass from Tyler Sheehan to Partridge, to the UT 1-yard line ... then, after a five-yard Falcon penalty, Partridge caught a six-yard TD pass from Turner ... Partridge accounted for all of the offense on that drive, with four receptions for 39 yards.
* For Partridge, the catch was his third TD reception of 2006, and the fourth of his Falcon career.
* In the second half, redshirt freshman Calvin Wiley became the 11th different player to return a kickoff for the Falcons this season.
* Late in the third quarter, Partridge made a diving catch across the middle on a fourth-and-6 pass from Turner ... the gain was for 12 yards and a first down to the UT 21.
* Two plays later, Turner scrambled to his right, took his time and found Brantley for a 21-yard touchdown pass with 35 seconds left in the quarter.
* Partridge went over the 100-yard receiving mark for the third time in his career, but the second time in the last three games ... he also had triple-digit totals in the '05 game at Wisconsin and this year's Akron contest.
* With 6:14 left in the fourth quarter, KB II had his second touchdown catch of the game, of the season and of his career. The play was reviewed and upheld.
* With 2:32 left in the game, Partridge caught his 14th pass of the game, to match Redd's school record.
* Turner's three-TD game gives him totals of 11 passing scores this season and 13 in his BGSU career.
* Freshman Jarett Sanderson led the Falcons with 13 tackles.
* Sophomore Erique Dozier had nine stops and two tackles for a loss.
* Senior Devon Parks had eight tackles and a sack and sophomore Diyral Briggs had seven stops. Parks finished his career with 22 sacks.
* Senior Terrel White had six tackles and finished the season with 101. He had 201 tackles in the last two years.
* Senior defensive lineman Tommy Smith and senior defensive back Michael Woods both saw their first action of the season. They orginally joined the team as walk-ons.
