Achter Named MAC Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Bowling Green State University women's basketball standout Kate Achter has been named a Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday evening (Nov. 28). Achter, a junior guard, earns the honor for the first time this season and the second time in her Falcon career.

Tuesday's announcement marks the second-straight week that the Falcons have had a Player-of-the-Week selection. Senior forward Ali Mann earned BGSU's first such honor this season.
Achter, a native of Oregon, Ohio (Clay H.S.), scored 23 points to tie for team honors in the Falcons' lone game of the week, an 86-67 win over three-time Atlantic 10 Conference champion Temple Friday (Nov. 24). Achter was a perfect 8-for-8 from the field in the win.
Achter also had four assists vs. Temple, tying for team honors in that category. Her final assist of the game was the 300th of her career, making her just the eighth player in school history to reach that milestone.
Her 8-for-8 shooting performance was the second such game in her career. She also want 8-for-8 from the field, and also scored 23 points, in her first home game as a Falcon, a win over Youngstown State two years ago.
The Falcons now have won 19 consecutive games at Anderson Arena, the third-longest home winning streak in the nation. Earlier Tuesday, BGSU was ranked 24th in the latest USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll.
Achter shared the weekly East Division honor with Amanda Jackson of Miami. Western Michigan's Carrie Moore was named the MAC's Player of the Week for the West Division.
The Falcons, 4-1 on the young season, continue a three-game homestand with a Wednesday (Nov. 29) game vs. Oakland University. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Anderson.
